SAN BRUNO, Calif. – San Diego freshman forward Miguel Berry has been named the West Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Berry recorded at hat trick at San Francisco Sunday evening, scoring all three of the Toreros' goals to become the first USD player with a hat trick since 2002.
The hat trick began with two back-to-back goals in the first half. The first came in the 33rd minute on a low line drive inside the far post after receiving a nice pass from senior defender Merlin Hoeckendorff. His second came after he nailed a shot from 15 yards out on a Michael Turner assist.
Berry completed his hat trick in the 47th minute with a header on a cross from Ryan Camara.
The freshman leads the team with seven goals.
