Junior Courtney Young turned in her best performance of the season while senior Beth Bedingfield and freshman Rose Drew finished in the Top 25 to help the Pepperdine women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish among Division I schools at the UC San Diego Triton Classic Saturday morning at the Triton Par Course in La Jolla, Calif.
Young, who is in her first season running cross country after spending the previous three years as a member of the Pepperdine women's soccer team, completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 24:42 to finish 19th.
Bedingfield posted a time of 25:06 to finish 23rd while Drew placed 24th with a time of 25:07.
UCLA, which claimed the top five individual places among Division I schools, finished first in the team standings with 15 points. UC Irvine (55) was second while USC (72) was third, Pepperdine (116) fourth and San Diego State (131).
In the eight-kilometer men's race, freshman Ryan Hagen was the top individual performer for Pepperdine as he turned in an unofficial time of 30:58. Results for the men's event are unofficial.
Pepperdine continues its schedule next Saturday, October 14, when it travels to San Luis Obispo for the Cal Poly Invitational.
