SAN LUIS OBISPO,CALIF. -The University of San Diego cross country team competed in their last race before West Coast Conference Championship Saturday at Fairbanks Park in San Louis Obispo. With Martin Jimenez, Marcus Lopez and Eric Stoddard all resting in preparation for the WCC's, a group of six Torero men took to the starting line Saturday morning.
As it has been every race this year the Toreros were lead by Chris Jacobs who placed 14th with a time of 27:17 over the hilly course. Next to come in for the Toreros were a pair of freshman Kevin O'Malley who notched into 27th place with a time of 28:48, and Clint Gordon who received a 37th place for his 29:59 effort.
Mark Hubbard who has been running the best races of his USD career of late, had another fine day on Saturday running 30:18 to lift him to a 33rd place finish. The fifth man for the Toreros was junior Louis Barrios who was clock with a time of 32:05 over the 8k course, to place him 36th. Max Jasper completed the six man team when he came in with a time of 35:56 to earn him 37th place.
The Torero men now look forward to the biggest race of the year as they travel up the coast to Crystal Springs for the WCC Cross Country Championships in two weeks.
