SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF. -The University of San Diego cross country team competed in their last race before West Coast Conference Championship Saturday at Fairbanks Park in San Luis Obispo. With Ashlen Nimmo and Megan Kachigan choosing to rest before the WCC's, the Torero women started the day with a group of 10 runners.
With Nimmo not competing the top spot for the Toreros was taken over by freshman Erica Eynon, who ran an impressive time of 20:05 with earned her a 34th place finish. Close behind Erica was fellow freshman Laura Wells who placed 38th with a time of 20:20.
Continuing her strong season Sarah Coxhead was the next Torero to cross the line with a time of 20:55 which notch her into 46th place. Following Coxhead was yet another freshman Nichole Riley who placed 5 spots behind in 51th with a time of 21:09.
Jen Langedrost was the 5th Torero to cross with a time of 21:17 placing her 52nd. Sally Kallet ran a time of 21:34 to place her 54th overall. Next for the Toreros were junior Stephanie Sollars and sophomore Danielle Strojnik who placed 64th and 65th respectively. Completing the ten woman team were Chelsea Jongeward who ran 22:56, and Dana Dancey who posted a time of 24:24.
The Torero women now look forward to the biggest race of the year as they travel up the coast to Crystal Springs for the WCC Cross Country Championships in two weeks.
