Oct. 19, 2007

FULLERTON, Calif. - Junior Brooke Lademan running attached took seventh place with a time of 18:32 in the Women's 5k and the LMU men finished third out of seven teams as the Lions posted a strong outing on the course at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. Although the Lions did not run a full women's team, many of the LMU runners captured season-best times in the races.

The men ran extremely well on the day, finishing just one point behind second-place finisher UC Irvine and topping Long Beach State (fourth). The Lions were led by sophomore Paul Beckwith, who finished the 8k in 26:22 to claim 12th place. Freshman Mike Seus just missed the top-15, crossing the line in 26:58 to finish 17th.

UCLA's men's team and the women from Orange Coast College were the collegiate winners, while unattached Chris Ashley and Cal Coast Track Club's Julie Swail were the individual winners in the meet. The Bruins had the first five male collegiate finishers for a perfect score of 15 to easily outdistance UC Irvine. Spencer Knight led the UCLA pack at 25:03 for second place behind Ashley in the race.

Laura Meyers of USC finished fourth in 18:08 to lead the collegiate women. Cassie Mitchell placed eighth to lead the OCC contingent in a 5k time of 18:42. Along with Lademan, Shea Franklin finished in 29th with a time of 19:43, Megan Lynch finished 38th in 20:01 and Caitlin Jennings crossed in 21:23 for LMU.
