Belmont, CA - The University of San Diego men's cross country team competed at the West Coast Conference Championships Saturday as the Torero men finished 7th at the historic Crystal Springs Cross Country course.
Sophomore, Erik Stoddard led the Men's team. He placed 33rd overall posting a time of 27:27 for the challenging 8km Crystal Springs course. He was followed by sophomore Chris Jacobs who finished 38th overall with a time of 27:41. Other finishers for USD were: freshmen Marcus Lopez (42 28:30), freshmen Martin Jimenez (43 28:49), sophomore Louis Barrios (47 29:37), sophomore Mark Hubbard (50 30:32), and senior Chris Durst (53 30:43).
The University of Portland Men dominated team titles posting a score of 36 points.
"The conference continues to get better, and this was one of the toughest WCC Championship races I have seen," head coach Will Guarino said. "I believe that our young runners got excellent experience today competing against talented WCC schools. Both teams are excited about running to their potential in the next two weeks at the NCAA Regional in Portland Oregon."
USD returns to NCAA Regional action on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Blue Lake Park in Portland Oregon.
