ATLANTA -- The West Coast Conference has been recognized for its work on two live events and one feature at the fourth annual College Sports Media Awards sponsored by the Sports Video Group (SVG). The awards were handed out this week as part of SVG's College Sports Video Summit at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta.

"It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by NACDA and the Sports Video Group for the hard work that we put into our production," said Jeff Tourial, the WCC's Director of Communications & New Media. "To be mentioned in the same categories with the best of the best in college athletics two years in a row is very rewarding."

The West Coast Conference nominated portions of its live coverage at both the inaugural WCC Men's Basketball Tip-Off Event at the YouTube Headquarters and the 2011 WCC Cross Country Championships last fall. Both videos earned Honorable Mention in the "Live Game and Event Production" in the College Athletics division.

The inaugural men's basketball tip-off event took place last October at neighboring YouTube headquarters and featured live video interviews with all nine coaches. The interviews were streamed live on both YouTube.com and WCCsports.com and WCC fans submitted questions via Facebook and Twitter. Click here to watch the event in its entirety.

The West Coast Conference broadcast the 2011 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships live from the Crystal Springs Course in Belmont, Calif. The WCC was one of only three conferences in the country to broadcast its cross country championship live. Click here to watch the championship in its entirety.

The number of nominees in this year's competition increased by 45% from last year's total entries.

"The 2012 College Sports Media Awards is a testament to the ever growing investment in production at the networks and on campus," says Tom Buffolano, chairman of the College Sports Video Summit. "We have seen a significant increase in production from college students in particular, who have more hands-on opportunities that prepare them for the next level. This bodes well for the growth of the industry as a whole."

The West Coast Conference also received an honorable mention in the Special Feature category in the College Athletics division for "Izzy Chilcott: Professional Surfer." The feature originally aired on the WCC's "Road to Las Vegas" weekly webisode and it showcases San Diego w. basketball senior Izzy Chilcott, who was a professional surfer back home in Queensland, Australia. The submissions and nominees were split across four divisions - National Networks and Professional, Regional Sports Networks and Local Cable Providers or TV Stations, Collegiate Athletics and Collegiate Students. Each division had four categories: Live Game and Event Production; Promotion, PSA, or Video Marketing Campaign; and Special Feature.
