Cross Country Impresses in San Diego

San Diego, CA -- The Saint Mary's cross country team competed in their second race of the season this morning at Balboa Park from San Diego. Junior Karrie Hagedorn led the Gaels for a second straight week with a time of 19:41. Senior Sean Hanley led the men's team with a time of 29:43.

Hagedorn, the lead runner for the women's squad, continued her impressive junior campaign by posting another personal best time. Her time of 19:41 marks the second straight week in which Hagedorn has set a personal best. Newcomer Haley Hunsaker capped off her second collegiate race by placing second with a time of 20:49. Seniors Clare Schwallie, Claudia Aguilera and Deanna Price rounded out the Gael harriers with times of 21:02, 21:25 and 22:05, respectively.

Sophomore Ruzena Kovacic posted a time of 23:19. Sophomore Jenna Zack finished with a time of 24:04.

Senior Sean Hanley led the Gaels with a time of 29:43. Sophomore David Stiles placed second for the Gaels for the second straight week with a time of 30:32. Junior Alex Nabors crossed the line with a time of 31:07. Sophomores Michael Truxton and Eric Villegas placed fourth and fifth for Saint Mary's with times of 32:06 and 34:44, respectively.

Newcomer Daniel Reyes ran a time of 34:53 in his second collegiate race.

The Gaels will return to action in two weeks when the fly to the Willamette, OR to compete in the Willamette Invite. The Invitational will take place on September 30 and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
