Five Men's Cross Country Teams Scout Out New WCC Championship Course

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Five WCC teams competed in the WCC Preview Meet at Fernhill Park in Portland, Ore. with each school represented in the top-20 individually.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • Five teams saw action at the WCC Preview Meet (9/15) with #5 Portland, and Scott Fauble (POR), taking home victories. Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Saint Mary's, and Santa Clara crossed the finish line in respective order (3-4-5-6).

  • The WCC Preview Meet (9/15) showcased some of the conference's top runners, as all five participating WCC teams placed at least one runner in the top-20 individually.

  • #3 BYU hosted its only home meet of the season (9/14), with their first team runners bringing home a win in impressive fashion. All five scoring runners finished within a 12-second span, and in the top-6 individually. BYU's Jared Ward narrowly beat teammate Steve Flint to capture the win.

  • San Diego and Pepperdine faced sweltering heat conditions on their way to finishing 13th and 18th, respectively, at the UC Riverside Invitational (9/15). Jonathan Rahaeuser led the way for Pepperdine, while Jacob Bruce was San Diego's top finisher.

  • In other action, Loyola Marymount finished sixth at the UC Irvine Invitational (9/8), while Santa Clara finished fourth at the Hornet Jamboree (9/8).

  • The WCC continues to be well represented in the USTFCCCA national / regional rankings with four teams making an appearance in Week Two.
