SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego Men's and Women's Cross Country will be traveling to the University of Minnesota's Griak Invitational. The race will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul.
The Men will be running a 8 kilometer race at 12:10 p.m., while the Womenwill be running a 6 kilometer race at 12:55 p.m. This will be USD's firstappearance ever at the Griak Invitational. The race will have a nationalfield of teams from throughout the country including: Arizona State,Belmont, Bradley, Eastern Washington, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, KansasState, Lamar, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Navy, Nebraska, NorthDakota State, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma, San Diego, South Dakota State,Utah Valley State, Virginia, Washington State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Xaiver.
"This is an exciting meet for both USD Men's and Women's teams," said Will Guarino, head coach of the two cross country squads. "The Griakinvitational is a huge meet, and is known to be one of the premiercollegiate cross country races in the country. I am excited to see our young teams participate in such a prestigious meet."
This is both a tough cross country course, and an extremely deep competitive field which will give the young Men's and Women's team depth and experience for the future. The Men's squad will be led by Junior: Chris Jacobs and freshmen Kevin O'Malley. The Women's squad will be lead by Sophomore: Ashlen Nimmo, and three new freshmen: Laura Wells, Erica Eynon, and Nicole Riley.
Both races are scheduled for the morning of Saturday September 29.
