The USF Women's cross country team will compete in the Griak Invitational and Stanford 4k Invitational this Saturday in split squad action, while the Men will have a team compete in the Stanford 8k and the Stanford 4k Saturday afternoon at Stanford Golf Course.
Competing for the women in Minnesota at the Griak Invitational, which is considered one of the most prestigious meets of the NCAA season, will be seniors Jennifer Hartford, Fallon Heffernan, Lucy Miller, Elizabeth Noey, junior Michelle Born, sophomores Mary Verran, Alice Hobbs, Christine Jowaiszas and freshman Nicole Bowler.
Hartford, who ran the second fastest time in USF history with a time of 21:30 while placing ninth at the Sundodger Invitational, will lead the women who are ranked #15 in the West Coast Region according to the USTFCCCA Cross Country Poll. The rest of the women's team will compete in the Stanford Invitational 4k Saturday evening at 5:40 on the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto. They will be led by senior Zita Mezei, who will be making her USF debut after transferring from Villanova University this past summer.
The men will run split squads in the 8k and 4k races at Stanford. Leading the team in the 8k event will be senior Cheyne Inman who was the top finisher for the Dons at the Sundodger Invitational. Leading the 4k team will be junior Alex Nelson, who placed 12th last season in the same race.
