San Francisco's Jose Madera Named WCC Men's Cross Country Player of the Month - September

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Men's Cross Country Player of the Month for September.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLAYER OF THE MONTH - JOSE MADERA, SR. - SAN FRANCISCO
After redshirting the 2013 cross country season due to injury, Jose Madera has returned to the course with two top-5 finishes in September. At the West Coast Conference Preview, his first race since 2012, Madera led the race for more than two miles before finishing fourth with a time of 24:36.7. One week later at the Stanford Invitational, his second race of the season, Madera, a redshirt senior, fought his way through a field of 363 runners and crossed the finish line in third place, alongside teammate Eric Causey, in 23:35. His performance helped propel the Dons to a fifth-place overall finish.

RESULTS 
 - West Coast Conference Preview, Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Sept. 20, 8K course, 4th place with a time of 24:36.7.
 - Stanford Invitational, Stanford Golf Course, Sept. 27, 8K course, 3rd place with a time of 23:35.
