Men's Cross Country Teams Make Final Tune-ups Before WCC Championships

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- #5 BYU finished second at Pre-Nationals, while San Francisco captured the Bronco Invitational title and LMU recorded two top-five finishes.


  • Four WCC teams competed in Santa Clara's Bronco Invitational (10/13) with San Francisco taking home the team title and Rajpaul Pannu (Saint Mary's) finishing a WCC-best third place individually. The Dons were paced by Jose Madera's program best 24:06.4 time, earning him a fifth place individual finish. Host Santa Clara landed in 13th place, while Saint Mary's and San Diego finished 14th and 19th, respectively.

  • Gonzaga took part in its final meet before the WCC championships, the Inland Northwest Classic (10/13), finishing in second place.

  • #17 Portland traveled to the Wisconsin Adidas Invite (10/12), finishing in 12th place and was led by David Perry. The Pilots then secured second place at the Warner Pacific Open (10/13).

  • #5 BYU competed in Louisville at Pre-Nationals, finishing second overall. The Cougars were paced by Jared Ward's eighth place finish.

  • Loyola Marymount registered a strong two weeks, taking second at the Triton Classic (10/6), and fourth at the Chili Pepper Invitational (10/13).

  • Pepperdine took fifth place at the Northridge Invitational (10/13).

  • Four WCC teams continue to appear in the USTFCCCA National and Regional Polls:
    BYU (Mountain): 5/2 Portland (West): 17/4
    Gonzaga (West): NR/12 San Francisco (West): NR/14
