Gaels compete at WCC Championships

Crystal Springs, CA - The Saint Mary's cross country team finished their season by competing in the West Coast Conference Championships Saturday. The Gaels were led by junior Karrie Hagedorn and sophomore David Stiles. The women's team ran into sixth place in the conference and the men finished eighth.

Sophomore sensation Karrie Hagedorn led the Gaels to its sixth place finish with her time of 23:37. Hagedorn finished 18 of 56; the highest finish by a Gael since Allegra Porter finished 11 in 2003.

In her final collegiate race senior Deanna Price placed second for the Gaels with a time of 25:12. Her time of 25:12 marks a personal best time, beating her old best by 21 seconds. Freshman Haley Hunsaker placed third for the Gaels with a time of 25:39. Senior Claudia Aguilera crossed the line next with a time of 26:03. Clare Schwallie placed fifth for the Gaels with a time of 26:15.

Jenna Zack finished with a time of 26:42. Ruzena Kovacic finished with a time of 34:33.

Sophomore David Stiles placed first for the Gael men with a time of 29:10. Senior Sean Hanley placed second with a time of 29:29. Juniors Alex Nabors and Peter Mathieu finished next for the Gaels with times of 30:15 and 30:36, respectively. Michael Truxton placed fifth for the Gaels with a time of 30:39.

Eric Villegas finished with a time of 31:22. Daniel Reyes finished with a time of 31:32.
