SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The Portland men finished 13th out of 31 teams at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, IN on Monday morning. The Pilots were led by USTFCCCA West Region Athlete of the Year sophomore Trevor Dunbar, who finished 25th overall with a 10K time of 30:20.1 to garner USTFCCCA Cross Country All-American honors.
Junior Alfred Kipchumba crossed the line second for the Pilots at 45th overall in 30:36.4, while sophomore Lars Erik Malde followed close behind with a 62nd place finish in 30:42.0. Juniors Peter Christmas and Aaron Scott rounded out Portland's top five.
In the women's 6K race, WCC Champion Loyola Marymount redshirt junior Tara Erdmann placed 25th overall in 20:39.9 for the 6K course to earn All-American honors. Erdmann was the third runner from the west region to cross the finish line and became the Lions' first All-American in cross country.
Oklahoma State won the Division I men's race, while Villanova took home the national title on the women's side. Liberty's Sam Chelanga and Villanova's Sheila Reid set the pace for the men and women, respectively.
