Nov. 24, 2008

WATCH EVENT: Official WCC YouTube Site

Relive all of the excitement from the 2008 WCC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships through the WCC's official YouTube site.

Watch a recap of the historic event as the Portland Pilots edged Loyola Marymount in both races to mark the closest championship event in conference history. In addition, watch interviews of some of the top finishers, including WCC Freshman of the Year winners Brieanna Delaney of LMU and Ganbileg Bor from USF.

The Pilot men, led by All-American David Kinsella, captured their 30th consecutive conference title, the longest active streak in the nation. The Pilots edged Loyola Marymount by a mere 10 points in the closest finish in WCC history.

On the women's side, the Pilots, led by junior Dana Morgan, landed four runners in the top 15 to capture their seventh straight WCC crown and 19th overall. LMU sophomore Tara Erdmann, who qualified for the NCAA Championships with her performance at last week's NCAA West Regional, became the second LMU harrier in the past three years to win the WCC title. Led by Erdmann and Delaney, the Lions finished just five points behind the Pilots, marking the slimmest margin of victory since 1991.
