Jan. 27, 2007

Malibu, Calif. - The pre-season No. 19 Waves took on the Pepperdine Alumni team Saturday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium, pulling out a rain-shortened 3-2 victory in 5 innings.

The Alumni started out hot, posting two runs in the top of the first to put the Waves in an early hole. Pepperdine immediately responded, tying the game in the bottom of the first frame.

Pepperdine starter Danny Ferris settled down and threw two perfect innings to cool off the Alumni.

In the bottom of the third, Danny Worth led the Waves off with a home run over the right-center field fence to put the Waves on top 3-2.

That would prove to be the decisive blow as the 2007 squad held the Alumni scoreless for two more innings before the game was called due to rain.
