Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's baseball team fell in the series finale against Nevada by the score of 6-1 Sunday afternoon from Louis Guisto Field. With the loss the Gaels drop the opening series of 2007 and fall to 1-2 on the season. Matt Bowman ripped two home runs and drove in three to pace the Wolf Pack.
Down 2-0 the Gaels pulled to within one when junior Kenny Fuglerud drove in Ian Gordon on a single up the middle. Gordon reached second on a throwing error by the shortstop and then was awarded third on a balk.
The one run is all SMC could muster as Nevada tacked on three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Nevada right fielder Matt Bowman hit a two-out solo home run in the top of the first inning to give the Wolf Pack an early 1-0 advantage. A single unearned run in the top of the second inning made it 2-0 Pack. Left fielder Mike Hale singled with one down and moved around to third on second baseman David Ciarlo's hit through the right side on a hit and run.
The Wolf Pack scored three runs with two out in the top of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-1. Ciarlo singled to start the inning and later scored on first baseman Shaun Kort's two-out RBI single. Bowman then blasted his second home run of the game over the right field fence to score two more runs.

Making his first start for the Wolf Pack, right-hander Mario Rivera (1-0) allowed one unearned run and just three hits while striking out four and walking one to get the win in his 5.1 innings on the mound.
