Final Stats

(Davis, CA) - San Francisco won their second game in the River City Classic, beating co-host UC Davis 8-0 at Dobbins Field on Saturday afternoon. With the second consecutive shutout, the Dons (7-5) haven't allowed a run in their last 20 innings. The Aggies fall to 3-7 with the loss.

Junior shortstop Tavo Hall smacked three singles, scored twice and had two RBI. Senior catcher Daniel Morales also had three hits, including a double. Senior left fielder Jonnie Knoble had two singles, an RBI and scored a run. Junior second baseman Joey Railey also doubled and scored twice.

USF scored all they would need in the top of the second. Sophomore designated hitter Zach Kim reached on an error, stole second and scored on Knoble's single to left.

They would add four in the fourth when with the bases loaded, Hall smacked a two RBI single to center. Junior right fielder Luke Sommer reached base on an error, and advanced to third base on the errant throw. Railey and Hall scored on the play.

Two more would cross in the sixth and one more in the ninth to put the game out of range for the Aggies. Only three of the Dons runs were earned as the Davis committed five errors on the day.

Senior right-hander Jason Dufloth (3-1) earned the combined shutout win, throwing 7.0 innings. The right-hander only allowed five hits, no walks and struck out three Aggies. Freshman Alex Kalogrides and senior Cole Stipovich both pitched an inning of relief, respectively, neither allowing a hit, a run, or a walk. Kalogrides earned his first strikeout on the season.

Davis sophomore Brad McAtee (1-1) drew the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) off five hits and five walks in 4.0 innings of work. Davis went through five pitchers in the game.

The only spots in the Aggies batting order to earn hits were the seven and eight positions. Sophomore Jacob Jefferies had three hits and freshman shortstop Justin Schafer had two.

USF concludes its 2007 River City Classic participation with a non-conference match up with West Coast Conference foe St. Mary's in Sacramento tomorrow. Game time is set for 10:00 AM.
