SEATTLE, Wash. - The University of San Diego baseball team's scheduled non-conference game against the Huskies of the University of Washington for Wednesday has been cancelled to inclement weather in the Seattle area.
The Toreros (9-8) handed the Huskies (12-5) an 8-4 loss on Tuesday, giving the Huskies highly regarded pitcher Tim Lincecum his first loss of the season. USD's right-hander Ricardo Pecina picked up his first win of the season for the Toreros allowing three runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work. Junior right-hander Josh Butler picked up his first save of the season allowing no runs on one hit in 2.0 innings of work.
on Tuesday, Josh Romanski led the way offensively with his 2-for-3 one RBI performance. Steve Singleton, Shane Buschini and Daniel Magness were the three other Toreros to record multiple hits in the 8-4 win.
The Toreros will now return to the friendly confines of Cunningham stadium on Friday as they host cross-town rival San Diego State University in a 2 p.m. game. USD will then travel to Tony Gwynn Stadium for a 6:30 p.m. start on Saturday before closing the three-game series with a 1 p.m. game at Cunningham Stadium on Sunday.
