SAN Diego, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team (18-10) completed a three-game sweep of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (12-15) Sunday afternoon at Cunningham Stadium with a 3-0 non-conference win.
USD wasted no time in scoring as they put up one run in the first inning. The Toreros got things rolling with Ryan Lilly's stand-up double down the left field line to run his hit streak to 11 games. Two batters later, Jordan Abruzzo brought Lilly home on a RBI single through the right side.
The Toreros tacked on two more runs in the third inning on back-to-back run-scoring doubles by both Abruzzo and Keoni Ruth to put the game at its final of 3-0.
Abruzzo led the offensive charge for the Toreros going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double to run his hit streak to six games.
Ricardo Pecnina (3-1) picks up the win for the Toreros allowing no runs on four his in six compete innings of work. Josh Romanski picked up his second save of the weekend allowing no runs on no hits, while striking out three in two complete innings of work. Ryan Tabor (1-1) was saddled with the loss for the Rebels allowing three runs on eight hits in seven complete innings of work
The Toreros will return to action on Friday as they open conference play against the Gaels of Saint Mary's College in a 2 p.m. game at Cunningham Stadium.
