(Reno, NV) - San Francisco ended a five game winning streak Tuesday afternoon, falling to the University of Nevada-Reno 10-5 at Peccole Park. UNR (16-14) only out hit USF 13-10, but the Dons (14-13) couldn't overcome a six run Wolf Pack fourth.
Senior center fielder Lucas DeLong smashed his first homerun of the season, a lead-off solo shot in the third. Senior catcher Daniel Morales also homered, his second of the season. Junior left fielder Luke Sommer smacked his fifth double of the season. Freshman Bobby Ethel smoked a pinch hit triple in the ninth. Senior Chris Bacigalupi and Morales also doubled for the Dons. Senior left fielder Jonnie Knoble, junior shortstop Brian Chavez, and junior pinch hitter Tavo Hall each added a hit for USF.
Junior right-hander Mitchell Bialosky (0-4) earned the loss, throwing 3.1 innings allowing five earned runs off six hits, two walks and a strikeout.
UNR's Benjamin Colton earned the win (1-1), tossing 7.0 solid innings, allowing three earned runs off six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Four Wolf Packers doubled and three homered in the game.
USF begins West Coast Conference play this weekend and tries to defend last season's WCC Championship at Loyola Marymount. Game time for Friday is set for 3:00 PM.
