USF Baseball Blanked 7-0 at San Jose State

(San Jose) - USF baseball dropped a tough 7-0 decision at San Jose State spoiling a beautiful night at Municipal Stadium. The Dons (24-16) struggled offensively as the Spartans (25-15) complete the season series sweep 2-0.

Senior outfielder Stefan Gartrell and junior outfielder Lucas DeLong each tallied a pair of base hits for San Francisco, while DeLong struck for his fifth double of the season - the only extra base hit for the Dons on the night.

Freshman right-hander Jeff Gordon (0-4) suffered the loss for the Dons, allowing five runs off six hits in 2.0 innings. Junior right-hander Jason Dufloth did a nice job for USF in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) off three hits and struck out a career-high six.

San Jose State used a five-run first and tacked on two more in the sixth and managed 10 base hits. San Francisco tallied six hits.

USF continues its five-game road trip with a West Coast Conference series at Gonzaga, beginning Friday afternoon in Spokane. First pitch against then Bulldogs on Friday, April 21 is set for 3:00 PM at Avista Stadium.
