IRVINE, Calif. - Glenn Swanson threw a no-hitter for UC Irvine (25-17) to lead the Anteaters to a 7-0 win against the 24th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team (25-18) in a non-conference game at Anteater Ballpark.
Swanson(5-4) threw his first no-hitter of his career and set a new career high with 14 strikouts in picking up the win for the Anteaters.
Irvine broke into the scoring column in the third inning scoring four runs on a Cody Cipriano run scoring double, a Ben Orloff RBI single, a Taylor Holiday RBI triple, and a Jamie Martinez sacrifice fly.
The Anteaters would tack on three more runs in the fifth inning. UC Irvine scored their runs on a Orloff RBI single and a Matt Morris two-run single to center field.
Ricardo Pecina (4-3) was saddled with the loss for the Toreros allowing seven runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings of work.
The Toreros will return to action on Friday as they travel to Northern Calif. for a three-game Wet Coast Conference tilt with the Dons of the University of San Francisco.
