Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's baseball team muscled up and tallied 11 runs on 18 hits to run past Patten Tuesday afternoon from Louis Guisto Field. Michael Gonzales tattooed the scoreboard to lead the vaunted Gaels attack. After the day, the Gaels improve to 19-25-1 overall.
After Patten plated a first inning run, Gonzales answered right back in a big way. The 6-6 freshman drilled his third home run on the season when he blistered the scoreboard with a line drive shot to right field to score two.
The Gaels scored another in the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. With the game still in the balance the Gaels erupted for seven runs in the seventh to secure the victory. Five of the seven runs came with two outs in the inning.
Freshman southpaw Anthony Aliotti tallied his team-leading sixth win on the season. Aliotti tossed six innings and allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six. Senior Justin Sloan pitched a perfect ninth inning.
Eight different pitchers toed the rubber for Patten. Daniel Silvas was tagged with the loss after he allowed two runs in two innings.
Freshman Randy Wells continued to swing a hot bat. The newcomer ripped his third double in just two games and was a home run away from the cycle. Well batted 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Saint Mary's will conclude its home slate with a three-game conference set against rival Santa Clara. The series will begin on Friday, May 4 at 3 p.m. from Louis Guisto Field.
