MALIBU, Calif. - Ryan Lollis' two-out, pinch-hit single in the top of the 14th inning plated J.C. Field to lift the Missouri Tigers to a 5-4 victory over UC Irvine in a four-hour, 44-minute marathon at Eddy D. Field Stadium in Malibu, Calif.
The Tigers (32-26) rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth to force extra innings.
UC Irvine (36-24) loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth but was unable to push any runs across as Taylor Holiday grounded into a double play to end the frame.
The Anteaters took a 4-2 lead in the home-half of the eighth on a Cody Cipriano triple which he scored on when the throw back into the infield eluded the Missouri third baseman.
Taylor Parker (3-4) worked the final 1 2-3 innings for the victory after getting Ben Orloff to ground into a double play with two-on and one-out in the bottom of the 14th.
Orloff went 0-7.
Cipriano was 2-for-6 and Matt Morris was 2-for-5 for Irvine, while Missouri's Hunter Mense led all players with three hits in six at-bats.
Scott Gorgen (7-5) took the loss in three innings of relief.
