Portland's Riley Henricks named WCC Player of the Week
Riley Henricks captures the first WCC Player of the Week award for 2011, after the senior hit .545 (6-for-11) during the weekend as part of a season-opening, three-game sweep over the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He also scored three runs, had two RBI's, had a double, four walks and was successful on his only stolen base attempt. On Friday, he went 3-5 with a double, two RBI's and a run as Portland opened the season with a 6-5 win. Henricks was 2-for-3 with a walk during Saturday's 2-1 win, and capped the weekend with a hit, two runs and three more walks as UP won 11-8 on Sunday. He also struck out just once in 15 plate appearances.

San Francisco's Matt Lujan named WCC Pitcher of the Week
Matt Lujan pitched a complete game in the Dons' season opener at No. 1 UCLA on Monday at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The senior left-hander allowed just one run on four hits with nine strikeouts in eight innings of work. UCLA had just two base runners in the final five innings (both on walks). Lujan's ERA is at 1.12. USF lost 1-0 in a true pitchers' duel.

Coaches Tab San Diego To Repeat in Preseason Poll
The University of San Diego is a unanimous selection to repeat as the West Coast Conference champions, garnering all seven possible first place votes and 49 points in a preseason poll of the eight WCC head coaches. Last season was memorable for USD. Led by 2010 WCC Player of the Year James Meador and Pitcher of the Year Kyle Blair, the Toreros posted a 19-2 WCC record en route to an NCAA berth and a 37-win season. Despite having ten players drafted, Coach Rich Hill and his staff have reloaded once again. The coaches selected Pepperdine to finish second in the WCC with 39 points. The complete poll follows.
