SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its inaugural Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for February 23, 2015.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JOSE VIZCAINO JR., JR., SS - SANTA CLARA
Jose Vizcaino, Jr. set the pace for the Santa Clara offense out of the No. 3 spot as the Broncos swept a three-game series with the Cincinnati Bearcats at Schott Stadium. All of his hits went for extra bases -- two doubles and two home runs -- for a 1.091 slugging percentage. He led the team in RBIs (6) and runs scored (6) while adding three walks for a .467 on-base percentage.

In his second at-bat of the series, the La Jolla, Calif. native hit a long home run to left to tie the game at 2-2 in the third inning. His RBI double in Game 1 of a Saturday doubleheader started off a four-run seventh to give the Broncos a 10-6 lead en route to a 10-8 victory. As the third batter in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, he hit a two-run homer to left as part of a three-run inning. For the week the junior hit .364 (4-11) and collected three walks against no strikeouts.

Vizcaino, Jr. either scored or drove in the first run in six of Santa Clara's 12 scoring innings on the weekend. In addition to being the offensive catalyst, he recorded six putouts and five assists as part of a second-straight error free weekend in 27 innings at shortstop. He took part in all three of Santa Clara's double plays.
