Baseball Drops to No. 22 in National Polls

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team dropped six spots in the latest Baseball America top-25 poll to No. 22 after posting a 1-3 record this past week.

The Toreros opened up the week with a 9-4 loss to, then-No. 20, UC Riverside. In the game, Sean Nicol led the way as he went 3-for-4 with one double and one run scored. Kevin Muno was also a solid force at the plate for USD as he went 2-for-3 with one double and one run scored. On Friday, USD fell to Fresno State, 12-4. In the game, Kevin Hansen led the way as he went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Nicol also had a solid day at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with one RBI. On Saturday, the Toreros evened the series with FSU with a 8-2 win. In the game, Josh Romanski went 3-for-5 with one double and two runs scored. Justin Snyder went 3-for-6 with one double, one home run and two RBI. On Sunday, the Bulldogs claimed the series with a 6-2 win. In the game, Nicol, Shane Buschini, Snyder and Mike Metzger all went 2-for-4 and Logan Gelbrich went 2-for-2 to lead the Toreros offense. Both Buschini and Gelbrich added an RBI.

The 22nd-ranked Toreros will head to UC Irvine for a 6 p.m. non-conference mid-week game with the Anteaters on Tuesday.
