SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team had four players named to the All-Tournament team at the Tony Gwynn Classic this past weekend. The USD players named to the all-tournament team were, Shane Buschini, Josh Romanski, Kevin Hansen and AJ Griffin.
Buschini led the team in hitting over the weekend as he went 6-for-12 (.500) with one double, one home run, one RBI and four runs scored. Buschini has now moved his season batting average up to .298 with 28 hits, a team-leading seven doubles, team-best six home runs and has 18 RBI.
Hansen was also a solid force at the plate this past weekend for the Toreros as he went 3-for-8 (.375) with one triple, one RBI and three runs scored. Hansen was also rock solid in the field as he committed no fielding errors and made several great defensive plays to help the Toreros post a 2-1 record.
Romanski's bat was also sold this past weekend as he went 4-for-12 with one double, one home run, one RBI and four runs scored. Romanski has moved his batting average up to .333 with 28 hits, five doubles, one triple, one home run and five RBI.
Griffin came in on Sunday in relief of Ricardo Pecina and was lights out for USD on the mound. The game was tied at 3-3 when he entered the game in the fifth inning and he shut down the Aztecs only allowing one run on one hit, while striking out seven batters in helping USD win its sixth consecutive game over SDSU. On the season, Griffin has an overall record of 3-1 with an ERA of 3.48.
The Toreros will return to action on Wednesday as they head to No. 13 Cal State Fullerton for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
