SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Sophomore let-hander Josh Romanski of the University of San Diego baseball team has been named the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday by the conference office.
Romanski tossed a gem to help lead USD to a 2-0 non-conference win over No. 29 UC Irvine this past Tuesday. Romanski allowed no runs on two hits, while striking out seven batters. Romanski only allowed one runner to reach second base and never allowed more then one runner on in any of his eight innings, including retiring 11 consecutive batters at one point. Irvine, as a team, entered the game with a .329 batting average and Romanski shut down the high-powered Anteater offense. On the season, Romanski has a 2-1 record with an ERA of 4.45.
Romanski and the 22nd-ranked Toreros will head to Fullerton on Wednesday to take on the 13th-ranked Titans of Cal State Fullerton in a 6 p.m. non-conference game at Goodwin Field.
