With the WCC baseball season well underway, the West Coast Conference announced its WCC Rawlings Pitcher and Player of the week. San Diego's Sammy Solis took home the pitching award, while Santa Clara's Geoff Klein won the player honor.
WCC Rawlings Pitcher of the Week: Sammy Solis, USD
This marks the second time in three weeks, that Solis has taken home this honor. Solis turned in his most dominant performance of the season in Friday's win over UAB, as he allowed two unearned runs on three hits, while striking out seven in 7.0 innings of work. This was Solis' longest outing of the young season, and he is now 3-1 with a 2.01 ERA and is third on the team in strikeouts with 22.
WCC Rawlings Player of the Week: Geoff Klein, SCU
The preseason All-America honoree and reigning WCC co-batting champ, Klein had 12 hits and eight RBI last week and was named to the all-tournament team at the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament in Silicon Valley.

His clutch ninth-inning double Saturday, led to the tying run in SCU's comeback victory over Air Force, 8-7, in extra innings. On Sunday, Klein hit a two-run homer (his second in as many days) and added a ninth-inning hit in SCU's 12-11 win over Southern Illinois. He raised his season batting average to .356. Klein has 15 RBI in 14 games.
