February's Rawlings WCC honors to Welmon, Woolley

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Pitcher and Player of the Month for February 2013.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE MONTH
COLIN WELMON, SO., RHP, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT

Loyola Marymount sophomore Colin Welmon is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Month for February. Welmon made three starts in the month, going 2-1 with a 0.86 ERA. The native of Tustin, Calif. pitched 21 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on 11 hits and five walks while striking out 20 hitters. Welmon averaged 6.67 strikeouts per game and posted a 4.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The right-hander recorded victories over then-No. 14 Oregon on the road (February 22) and Hawai'I at the UNLV Rebel Classic (February 28).

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
CHRIS WOOLLEY, JR., IF, SAN DIEGO

San Diego junior Chris Woolley is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Month for February. Woolley led the team's offense as he went 10-for-22 with seven RBI and five runs scored. Woolley led the Toreros to four wins over their last five games in the month. Woolley was named WCC Player of the Week once in February after he helped the Toreros go 3-1 in a four-game series against 2012 College World Series participant Kent State, hitting .636 (7-for-11) with a double, six RBI and four runs scored.
