SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The University of San Diego junior right-hander Josh Butler was tabbed as the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Butler, a junior from Danville, Calif., threw a complete game shutout this past weekend against the University of Houston. In Saturday's 2-0 win against the Cougars, Butler allowed just five hits while striking out a season-high nine batters in picking up his fifth win of the season. With the win, Butler moves to 5-2 with an ERA of 0.72.
Butler and the Toreros will return to action on Friday as they open a three-game non-conference series with the Rebels of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas at Cunningham Stadium at 2 p.m.
