SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- San Diego swept Santa Clara in the opening conference series for those two teams, while BYU won two-of-three at Portland to become the first team to reach four conference victories.

  • San Diego is ranked 24th in this week's Baseball America top 25 poll. On Saturday, the Toreros became the first WCC team to reach 20 wins.

  • The quest for the 2012 West Coast Conference championship resumes or begins for eight WCC teams this week. BYU is the lone team to play a non-conference series this weekend. The Cougars have already played two WCC opponents, posting a 4-2 mark thus far.

  • BYU freshman RHP Mason Marshall is the Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week. He earned a win and a save in leading the Cougars to a series win at Portland.

  • Gonzaga senior outfielder Royce Bolinger is the Rawlings WCC Player of the Week. Bolinger hit .529 with three homers and seven RBI over four games last week.

  • The West Coast Conference is one of three Division I conferences not to have a postseason tournament or playoff series (Big West, Pac 12). The WCC will commence a four-team championship beginning in 2013.
