WCC Announces Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week for April 7, 2014. 

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PITCHER OF THE WEEK
AARON BROWN, JR., LHP, PEPPERDINE
Aaron Brown finished off a 4-0 week for Pepperdine with a victory in the third game of a series sweep against Saint Mary’s on Sunday. Brown tossed 8.0 innings, giving up five hits (all singles) and no earned runs while striking out seven batters. The junior lefty allowed just two walks and one unearned run in the 8-1 victory, moving to 6-1 on the season in the process for the first-place Waves. Brown now has a 2.45 ERA and 58 strikeouts on the season. In addition, the two-way star also had a double and drove in a run in his Sunday start. For the week he had five hits and two RBI.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JESSE JENNER, JR., C, SAN DIEGO
Junior catcher Jesse Jenner turned in a remarkable week, hitting .769 (10-for-13) with one double, one home run and five RBI.  His offense helped lead USD to a 4-0 record this past week, lifting the Toreros into second place in the conference standings.  Jenner began the week going 3-for-4 with one RBI in a win against cross-town rival San Diego State.  He then went 3-for-4 with two RBI in game one against Gonzaga, followed by a 1-for-2 and one RBI outing in game 2 against the Bulldogs.  He then capped the week with a perfect 3-for-3, one RBI and one home run performance – his first as a Torero – to help USD complete the sweep against Gonzaga.
