Gonzaga's Martin Named To Baseball America's Midseason All-America Team

SPOKANE, WASH. -- Gonzaga University senior right-handed pitcher Cody Martin was selected to Baseball America's 2011 Midseason All-America team Tuesday.

Martin has pitched 30 1/3 innings in 11 appearances, one as a starter. He is 2-0 with five saves, 40 strikeouts and is leading the West Coast Conference in earned-run average (0.89) and opposing batting average (.170).

The native of Dos Palos, Calif., has also been moving up in Gonzaga University's career record book. He made his 74th appearance this past Tuesday in Gonzaga's 11-6 loss to Washington State University and is seven away from tying Matt Siwek (1996-2000) in that category. He has 248 career strikeouts and is four away from tying Darin Blood (1993-95) for fourth in the all-time list.

The Bulldogs open the WCC season Friday night against the University of San Diego at 6 p.m.
