SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University will officially dedicate Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field when the Bulldogs host Saint Mary's College on April 20.
Game time, however, will depend on the installation of lights at the new facility. If the installation of lights is complete, game time will be 6 p.m. If not, then game time will be 4:30 p.m. Official dedication ceremonies will begin 15 minutes prior to game time.
Installation of the lights is underway.
"Garco Construction and PowerCity Lighting are working diligently to complete the installation so we can play night baseball for the dedication game," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "The poles and lights have arrived, but we also know they are on a short timeline and it just might not be possible to get everything completed by April 20."
Roth said he believed it was important to make the two game time options public so people coming from out of town could adjust travel arrangements if necessary.
"All of the information we have released - web site, media guides, press releases and so forth to this point - list 6:30 p.m. as the game time. We realize some of our fans may have scheduled their day based on that fact, so we felt it important to get this updated information disseminated so fans could adjust their plans if necessary."
Roth said it could be as late the week of the game before the final game time is determined.
"We hope to have a good indication by late next week as to which of the game time options we will use, but there's also the chance that decision may not be made until the week of the game," Roth said.
