SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference baseball game scheduled between the 17th-ranked University of San Diego and Loyola Marymount University for Friday at 3:30 p.m. has been postponed one day due to incumbent weather in the San Diego area. The Toreros and Lions will now play a doubleheader on Saturday at Cunningham Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. and the second game to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
The Toreros claimed the first game of a three-game tilt on Thursday as they used a four-run seventh inning to come-from-behind and claim a 6-4 win at Cunningham Stadium. In the game, Josh Romanski led the offense for USD going 3-for-4 and Steve Singleton ended a 0-for-19 slump with a 2-for-4, one home run, one double and two RBI performance. Ricardo Pecina (4-1) was credited with the win for the Toreros after allowing one run on three hits in 1.0 innings of work.
Saturday's first game will feature the Toreros junior right-hander Josh Butler vs. the Lions Andy Beal. Butler enters the contest with a 8-2 record and a ERA f 1.76 while Beal enters the contest with a 2-6 record and an ERA of 5.11. In game two, USD is scheduled to start Matt Couch and the Lions will go with Daniel Macias. Couch enters the contest with a 5-1 record and an ERA of 3.51 and Macias enters the contest with a 3-6 record and an ERA of 5.50.
