West Coast Conference announces weekly Rawlings award-winners

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Pitcher and Player of the Week for April 16, 2012.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
MICHAEL WAGNER, SO., RHP, SAN DIEGO

San Diego sophomore Michael Wagner is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. Wagner made four appearances, and recorded four saves to run his saves total to a nation-leading 18. Overall, Wagner allowed no runs on four hits, while striking out six in 6.0 complete innings of work. Thanks in large part to Wagner, USD has now recorded its best start in program history at 29-8. The 18 saves ties a WCC single season record.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOE SEVER JR., 2B, PEPPERDINE

Pepperdine junior Joe Sever is the Rawlings WCC Player of the Week after leading the Waves to a 3-1 record last week. For the week, the second baseman went 11-for-18 (.611) with four RBI and four runs scored. Over the weekend in a WCC series against Portland, Sever went a combined 8-for-12 as the Waves took two of three.
