San Diego Earns Rawlings Pitcher and Player of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Pitcher and Player of the Week for April 22, 2013.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
PJ CONLON, FR., LHP, SAN DIEGO

San Diego freshman PJ Conlon is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. Conlon made two appearances with one start this past week, and posted a 2-0 record. Conlon pitched in 8.2 innings, and he didn't allow a run to cross the plate, earned or unearned. In his start on Sunday against Santa Clara, Conlon went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on five hits, while striking out a career-high nine batters. In his first appearance on Friday, Conlon went 2.0 innings, allowing no runs on no hits in 2.0 innings of work to pick up the win.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KRIS BRYANT, JR., 3B, SAN DIEGO

Junior All-American Kris Bryant is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Bryant helped lead USD to a perfect 4-0 record, as he paced the team's offense going 7-for-14 (.500) with one double, five home runs and six RBI. Bryant slugged at a 1.643 clip and had an on base percentage of .650. Bryant was walked six times. He hit a home run in all four games this week. With his five home runs, Bryant set a new USD single-season record for home runs with 20, and he has now tied the career record with 43. Bryant began the week going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI against UC Santa Barbara. After going 1-for-3 against Santa Clara in the series opener, he went 3-for-3 with a home run in the Saturday win over SCU, which gave him the USD single-season record, and he capped the week with a 1-for-4 one home run performance to tie the USD career home run record.
