SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week for April 28, 2014.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PITCHER OF THE WEEK
BRANDON BAILEY, FR., RHP, GONZAGA
Freshman RHP Brandon Bailey threw his third complete-game of the year in a 4-1 victory over Saint Mary’s. The righthander struck out a career-high seven batters and walked just one. He allowed eight hits in game and the Gaels did not score its run until the top of the ninth inning.
His win gave the Bulldogs the doubleheader sweep over the Gaels and the club’s fifth WCC series victory. The freshman lowered his ERA to 3.24. He leads the GU rotation with four wins, three complete games and 77.2 innings pitched. In his WCC starts, Bailey is 4-2 with a 2.52 ERA.

STEVIE BERMAN, FR., C, SANTA CLARA
Freshman catcher Stevie Berman played an integral part in Santa Clara's success as the Broncos took a series from the WCC's second place team for the second straight weekend, two games to one over Loyola Marymount. On April 26, Berman hit home runs in his first two at-bats and added a single and two walks to reach base in all five of his trips to the plate in a 10-2 victory.
The freshman catcher hit a two-RBI double to put to Broncos on the board in the first inning April 29 in an 8-7 victory, and went on to go 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored. Berman hit .455, slugged at a 1.091 clip and notched a .571 on-base percentage. He also excelled behind the plate, committing no errors and limiting the conference's stolen base leader in LMU to 2-for-4 in the three-game set.
