A few weeks ago, we watched baseball from a pool. But since we're in San Diego now, it was time to up the ante. Luckily, University of San Diego baseball coach Rich Hill is an avid surfer and wanted to take us to the beach for a lesson before his Toreros hosted Pepperdine.
So Monday morning we headed down to Hill's office at USD, and then he took us to Rocky's Surf Shop in Ocean Beach, where they were kind enough to outfit us with boards and wet suits for the morning. Joining us for our first surfing adventure was Rich Hill's pal Kevin, who is quite the surfing expert. Between the two of them, we knew that even if Matt and I weren't expert surfers by the end of the day, at least we wouldn't drown. Which is good since we have a strict no-drowning policy here at Going Yard.
