USF baseball, which won its first ever West Coast Conference Championship will hold its annual awards banquet Sunday, May 21 at the Carnelian Room atop the Bank of America Building in San Francisco (555 California Street).
Tickets are available in advance for the event by calling Greg Sempadian at 415/422-6891. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m. that will be followed by dinner and awards ceremony at 7:00. There will also be the annual USF highlight video shown.
USF head coach Nino Giarratano will honor the Diamond Dons Class of 2006 - Jacob Abramson, Stefan Gartrell, Patrick McGuigan, Andrew Smith and Ben Summerhays and will present team and conference awards. The outgoing group of four-year seniors have won more games than any group in program history at 126 and counting and offensively amassed 371 hits, 19 home runs, 218 RBI, 191 runs and 53 stolen bases.
San Francisco will host Pepperdine May 26-28 in the 2006 West Coast Conference Championship series, televised live by Fox Sports Net. Competing in their first postseason in school history, the Dons are chasing the first NCAA Regional berth in program history.
