USF Baseball to Face Miami In First Ever NCAA Appearance in Lincoln, Nebraska

The USF baseball team will make its first ever NCAA tournament appearance they face Miami in the Lincoln (NE) regional Friday.

USF (38-21), the West Coast Conference coChampions, will face Miami (FL) of the Big East Conference

"It is a great day for the University of San Francisco baseball program, the players, fans, alumni and coaching staff," said Dons' head coach Nino Giarratano. "We have built this program into a strong one with two straight solid seasons. Obviously, being in the NCAA tournament is a goal that everyone shoots for. Its been quite a year for the program, with our first league title and now advancing into NCAA play."

USF gained honors along the way, with pitcher/outfielder Scott Cousins being named West Coast Conference Player of the Year, pitcher Pat McGuigan being named WCC Co-Pitcher of the Year and Nino Giarratano being named Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The Dons have won 10 of their last 12 series, and 13 of their last 16 games.
