Gold Named Texas League All-Star

Aug. 30, 2006

FRISCO, Texas - Former Gonzaga University slugger Nate Gold has been named to the 2006 Texas League Post-Season All-Star team.

Gold had 11 home runs through the month of June for the Frisco RoughRiders. Then he exploded, slapping 12 bombs in the month of July and currently has 32 (a franchise record), which leads the Texas League as well as all of Double-A baseball. Gold has also registered 98 RBI (a franchise record), which is good for second in all of Double-A, and seems fitting as 21 of his 32 homeruns have come with runners on-base. Gold was named a Texas League All-Star in 2006.

The former Gonzaga standout was selected in the 10th round of the 2002 Draft after leading the NCAA with a school-record 33 home runs. The native of Centerville, Utah, finished second in the Home Run Challenge at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., to cap his senior season.
