Saratoga, New York - LMU baseball's Ezequiel Ruvalcaba returned to campus this fall as a summer league all-star. The Lions' right-hander was named a first-team reliever for the 2006 New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) All-Star team.
Ruvalcaba and LMU teammate Justin Bunkis spent the summer helping his Saratoga Phillies claim their first NYCBL title in the franchise's three years of existence.
Ruvalcaba threw in 17 games without allowing a run in his 18 2/3 innings of work. He finished the summer 2-0 with five saves. He struck out 22, while walking just eight batters. In the Phillies' 5-0 championship victory over Allegany County, Ruvalcaba struck out the side in the ninth to seal the title win.
One of seven returning seniors for the Lions this season, Ruvalcaba and the Lions open the 2007 season February 2 at Page Stadium against Sacramento State.
