Navy Win Sets Up Saturday Rubber Match

LOS ANGELES - A Navy victory Friday afternoon evened the Crimson & Navy Fall Series at 1-1, setting up Saturday's 10:00 a.m. rubber match at Page Stadium. Kevin Hernandez, Steve Connolly, and Greg Nagy combined to one-hit Crimson, throwing 6 2/3 innings of one-hit baseball.

Hernandez earned the start for Navy and worked 2 2/3 innings, holding Crimson hitless while striking out four. He gave way to Connolly, who continued with three hitless innings. Nagy threw the seventh for Navy, getting two outs before Crimson freshman Ryan Wheeler notched his team's only hit of the day.

In addition to impressive pitching, the Navy offense also contributed, led by freshman Angelo Songco's three-run home run. Sophomore Nik Garcia went 2-for-2 with a double, while senior DeAndre Miller finished 2-for-4.

Senior left-hander Daniel Macias earned the start for Crimson and worked 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits while striking out three.

Saturday's 10:00 a.m. rubber match will feature Crimson's Brad Meyers (RHP) against Navy's Brian Wilson (RHP). A family BBQ in Pride Park will follow the game. All are welcome to attend.
