SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- A pair of WCC baseball teams have been ranked in the Collegiate Baseball Top 40 preseason poll, the publication announced on Thursday. The University of San Diego has been selected No. 12, and Pepperdine has been placed as No. 40 in advance of the 2013 season.

The Toreros are coming off the third best season in program history, as USD finished with a 40-17 mark in 2012, and the Toreros earned its second at-large bid into the NCAA Regionals. USD is highlighted by a pair of All-Amerrica returners in junior third baseman Kris Bryant and right-handed pitcher Michael Wagner.

The Waves captured the 2012 West Coast Conference baseball championship and the WCC's automatic NCAA berth. Led by 2012 WCC Coach of the Year Steve Rodriguez, Pepperdine returns a wealth of talent including a number of all-conference selections.
