SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference play resumes on Thursday night, with eight teams in action. All four games will be televised, including Saint Mary's at San Diego on ESPNU. Santa Clara plays its first conference game of the season that night at Portland.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • In the first RPI from the NCAA (Jan. 2), Gonzaga ranks sixth nationally. Saint Mary's also cracked the national top 25, ranking 24th in the first report. BYU's ranking is 66th of 344 Division I teams.

  • With a pair of conference wins last week, Saint Mary's is off to a 2-0 start for the fifth consecutive season in West Coast Conference play. In fact, the Gaels have won their first four WCC contests in three of the last four years.

  • The WCC has a 71-44 (.617) non-conference record this year. In 2010-11, the WCC non-conference winning percentage was .554.

  • Santa Clara, the lone WCC team yet to play a conference game, hits the hardwood on Thursday night at Portland and Saturday evening at Gonzaga.

  • Only eight Division I teams have won at least 25 games in each of the last four seasons. Three of those teams (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's) call the West Coast Conference home.

  • BYU's Brandon Davies is the WCC Player of the Week for January 2. Davies scored a career-high 28-points at Saint Mary's, and followed that up with a 21-point, 22-rebound effort in the victory over San Diego.

  • Seven members of the 2011 All-WCC Team were named to this year's Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team.

  • The WCC's weekly web video show, "The Road to Las Vegas," returns to WCCsports.com on Wednesday.

  • Also on January 4, WCC Live, the popular Internet talk show returns. This week's guests include Saint Mary's guard Stephen Holt, Santa Clara guard Evan Roquemore, and LMU guard Anthony Ireland.
